Almon is proud to be working with Ballard Power Systems, Dana Corporation and Redrock Power Systems, on the development of a 280kW fuel cell powerplant for the Alberta Zero Emissions Truck Electrification Collaboration (AZETEC) fuel cell truck project. Two Class 8 trucks will be fitted with a hydrogen fuel cell module at Almon’s facility in Toronto, Ontario. Almon and Redrock will be integrating the Ballard FCmove™ HD fuel cell modules, power electronics, hydrogen storage, and cooling systems into fuel cell engines capable of driving the 64-ton trucks at highway speeds in all Alberta weather conditions.
The project is led by the Alberta Motor Transport Association, with funding from Emissions Reduction Alberta. The AZETEC project will see the two heavy transport trucks operating on daily round trips between Edmonton and Calgary. Once deployed, these trucks will be the first of their kind in terms of range, power and capacity. Learn more at azetec.ca.
